In 2013, thanks to a NYS Department of Health HEAL grant and Foundation support, Schuyler Hospital embarked on its most ambitious construction project since perhaps 1972 – when the current facility on the hill was built.
Schuyler Hospital now has a new advantage when recruiting primary care healthcare professionals to the area. Over the summer, the hospital was approved as a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site. This designation enables Schuyler Hospital – as a facility located in a Health Professional Shortage Area – to both hire NHSC Scholars and offer loan repayment assistance.

While their medical training may be broad-based, general surgeons are highly trained specialists and experts in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the chest, abdomen, and pelvis, including the breasts, esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen.
In December 2011 Schuyler Hospital and Cayuga Medical Center entered a collaborative partnership, with the goal of working together to improve the delivery of local healthcare services in both communities.

2008 saw many successes as well as many new challenges for Schuyler Hospital. As the year progressed we experienced a renewed positive feeling about Schuyler Hospital and its long-term success as part of the Schuyler County community.
