Schuyler Hospital and members of the Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary and Seneca View Skilled Nursing lit a tree to spread some holiday cheer among Seneca View residents and in honor of longtime volunteers and contributors Leonard (Len) and Shirley Salvatore.
Over the years, the Salvatores have spent countless hours donating, creating materials, and volunteering their time for annual fundraising events and initiatives. The 20-foot Norway spruce was donated to the Auxiliary by Marty Wojcik of Watkins Glen and planted in the couple’s honor in 2019. It was decorated with lights and lit up for the holiday season yesterday afternoon. Len attended the tree lighting along with his daughter Sharon Malick on behalf of her mother who had recently passed. Malick is a past president of the Schuyler Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to the tree lighting, a commemorative stone was donated and will be placed near the tree and will soon have a plaque honoring the couple’s generosity and kindness to Schuyler Hospital and the community. The stone was donated by Forkers Construction of Montour Falls.
Shallenberger continued, “this is something special for the Seneca View residents and the community.” Schuyler Hospital is a member of Cayuga Health.
